Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., Chairman of Juneteenth, is currently trying to get a book that he has published into every public library and every public school. After accomplishing this goal he will be trying to get the History of Juneteenth into the public school's curriculum across the nation.

Senator Barack Obama has been a key sponsor of Juneteenth legislation in the U.S. Senate.He also served as senate host and speaker at the annual Juneteenth Congressional Reception from 2005 through 2008.
